Callahan: 15 GP, 6 G, 5 A for 11 Pts. +4, 8 PIMS, 3 PPG, 1 GWG and playing 2.5 minutes more / game
St. Louis: 16 GP, 1 G, 3 A for 5 Pts. -1, 4 PIMS, 1 SHG and playing 3 minutes less / game
The point totals are surprising, but I think the biggest stat here is the amount of ice time per game each is receiving. Callahan now sees 20:14, up from 17:57 a night while St. Louis is at 18:44, down from 21:41. Three minutes less a game for one of the league's top point scorers is a significant drop. But hey, as long as the Rangers keep winning that's all that matters to them. As for Callahan, this is not a total shock. He's shown he can be a solid contributor in the past and his current time-on-ice per game is closer to his career average prior to this year so he can handle the extra work.
I'm wondering how the fans of either team feel about this trade now that it's been a little while. Rangers and Lightning fans, I would like to hear from you - are you happy about the trade or wishing things stayed the way they were?
